Who is the program for?

The International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) Program offered by A Parent’s Touch is for parents and carers of any baby aged from birth to 12 months. It is ideal for first time parents, parents with a second baby, working parents and foster carers.

Who developed the IAIM Program?

The IAIM is the largest and longest standing worldwide association dedicated to infant massage. Vimala McClure developed the IAIM Program in the 1970’s. It is an internationally recognised infant massage program delivered around the world that is supported by the latest evidence-based research. The IAIM program is regularly reviewed and updated by the International Circle of Trainers and the International Educational Committee, which comprises of child health and development experts.

How is the program delivered?

Parents have the option to arrange a private group program or register for an upcoming community group program.

Where do we offer the program?

Our community group programs will be held during the day at specific locations. The days and timeslot for our private group programs will be in the comfort of the clients’ home or at an agreed location.

What is the group size for the program?

Group sizes are between 5 to 6 families. Groups are kept small to allow parents to have lots of individualised support from the instructor.

What is included in the program?

The program consists of 5 sessions in a small group setting. Each session includes morning or afternoon tea; a relaxation exercise; demonstration and practise of infant massage strokes; and discussion of specific topics related to infant and caregiver’s wellbeing. Parents will also be provided with organic baby massage oil and handouts.

What can parents expect when they attend the program?

Our classes are fun and relaxing. Babies direct the flow of our class! It’s okay for babies to cry at some stage during the course. It’s just what babies do! Babies may require feeding, nappy changes or comforting, so there is no need to feel uncomfortable about taking care of your baby’s needs. If your baby is sleeping or just isn’t up for a massage, there are demonstration dolls for parents to practice the strokes during class time.
